about

I’m a lifelong artist from Cupertino, CA who’s been living in Portland, OR since 2013.

I have over 35 years of practice in visual art, and I’m currently making the transition to creating art professionally.

Drawing has been second-nature to me as long as I’ve been able to hold a pencil (or jumbo thick toddler crayon, as it were). I’m a cartoonist and illustrator deep down to my soul. Some of my earliest memories are reading my parents’ Calvin and Hobbes, The Far Side, and Edward Gorey collections. Maybe I didn’t understand all the jokes, but I loved the irreverent silliness, the tiny life lessons buried in social commentary, punching up at the establishment, and most of all I loved how deeply weird it all was. And all of that complexity, all those millions of layers and facets adding up to tell a story and evoke a feeling with just some marks on a piece of paper!

While I’ve continually made art spanning numerous mediums and have done commissions on and off my entire adult life, I never pursued it as a career path after college. Instead I ended up working in tech; tale as old as the mid-90s for someone born and raised in Silicon Valley. I have been incredibly fortunate in my career; working in both gaming and fintech startups at exciting and magical times, with brilliant and talented people, many of whom are still in my life today.

Still, I fantasized about being able make art for a living, and after being laid off in February of 2026, I started plotting how to actually make that happen.

Currently I’m building up my surface design portfolio, and in the meantime I’m taking limited commissions on an ad-hoc basis. I love drawing animals and pet portraits/stickers/emojis/profile pictures, I’m also happy to help with an affordable fliers and creative assets for your indie band or small business.

I hope my art can introduce a little bit of whimsy, humor, and curiosity into your day.
